Hi. I'm considering buying a cheap wine fridge to store my wine until I settle down in permanent house (still a student now). I'm trying to decide between a Danby model DWC310BL or an Avanti model WC412D. I'm leaning towards the Avanti because they supposedly can "maintains optimum temperature and humidity", however it does this. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the board. I'm not personally familiar with either of those brands, and have been unable to get decent photos on the web. The narrative on the Avanti sounds like the Haier 34-btl unit, which was my first wine fridge (still in service in the laundryroom, but now have much-expanded storage). It's price of $325 at Winecooler.net seems high, especially when shipping is added. Suggest you look at Home Depot, Lowe's, Sam's Club and Costco for alternatives. Sam's is likely to have the lowest price, from what I've seen.

I would also look at American if you have one of those in the area. I personally bought a Danby from them for basically the same reason as you goose and it has worked wonderfully so far. I think i paid about 230 for the 40 bottle Danby. Good luck in the search.<P>TW
