XYZin 10 comes from Zinfandel vines that were at least 10 years of age at the time of harvest. The grapes for this wine were sourced from many appellations with a focus on Sonoma and Mendocino counties and a few select vineyards from Lake County and Lodi. I opened this on Thursday for Eileen and paired with take home Carrabba's Italian Grill Rigatoni Martino, which we both love. Took a sip and thought average, fruit forward zin....Eileen will like it, which she did, 1/2 the bottle. Friday after work I poured meself a glass and, wow, nothing like the night before. Now this is no world class Zin but it's a very nice wine, a day later, showing spicy dark fruit, dark cherry, and pomegranate flavors with hints of brown sugar, chocolate and tar. I found this very appealing...(of course I hadn't had a glass of wine for 6 days), but for $14, a fun, satisfying zin. 14.2% Alc/vol.
