Martin Scorseses' Series on The Blues aired a segment on Piano Pickers last nite directed by a pretty fair player hims-very-own-self, Clint Eastwood. As he did in the marvelous "Bird", Clint gave the subject life, energy, and magnetism. The list of performers was only overshadowed by their playing. Hopefully anyone interested in music who missed this killer segment on Public Television will get the opportunity to experience this major production via repeat showings. There'll be lots of names that even the most avid jazz and blues buff wont recognize Henry Gray and Marcia Ball are a couple I didn't know. I want another watch mee-self!. WW

definitely a thumbs up, WW! I love this music anyway and am a big Eastwood fan. So many Hollywood types get on the bandwagon of something deemed popular, but he really does know his stuff. Hope it airs again soon so I can tape it. WD

I watched at least part of all 7 episodes. Thank you PBS, Martin Scorcese, and performer's, historians, directors, et al.

Clint Eastwood's Piano Players ep. was my second-favorite ep, right behind the British Blues episode. Great series. At the Record store yesterday I noticed 'stickers' on a lot of Blues albums indicating that there were songs on the album that had been included in Scorsese's series. There were a few new albums made from the series, but stickers on a lot of stuff I already own.
