I recently was given a private wine collection. I know what I have is worth a decent sum, but how the heck can I find interested parties? I know the laws discourage private party wine sales, but it is wasted treasure on me!

Here's what I have:

(6) 1997 Ridge Monte Bello Cab
(1) 1997 Gaja Sori San Lorenzo Langhe Nebbiolo
(2) 1990 Marchesi di Barolo Riserva Grande Annata Red
(1) 1990 Christian Moueix Dominus Estate Red
(1) 1993 Hartwell Napa Valley Stags Leap District Cab

The Ridge is MINT. Still in wooden box. The Gaja is near mint, with a few marks on the label. The Marchesi di Barolo bottles are also near mint, with a few label blemishes. The Moueix has some label blemishes. The Hartwell has some stains on the label, and would be the one I would consider in the worst exterior condition. None of the wines have ever been out of a climate control, so if you can get past some label blemishes here and there, the wine is in absolutely perfect condition.

What's the best way to find interested parties?

Hi DAG and welcome to the board. You have some nice bottles and IMHO your best avenue for selling them is E-Bay. You don't state the amount so I'm of the impression the bottle count is 1 per listing. Single bottles are not in great dem,and except for extremely rare and old vintages. You mite want to go back and call some of the auction houses I've listed on this thread many times. If you're in the Phoenix area post your contact and if you don't have any luck maybe I can steer you to someone here who'd be interested. WW

Thank you for the welcome, and the prompt response!

I was thinking e-Bay, but it says that it prohibits the sale of wine explicitly unless you are a broker with appropriate licensing and/or pending prior approval (approval pending what criterion, I do not know). Then, there is also the shipping factor. The USPS and many drop freight companies will not ship alcohol. I hope I'm not being ignorant, but I've tried to read up quite a bit on these topics lately, and I feel a bit dead-ended.

I am in the N. Scottsdale area mostly, as well as Glendale -- very accessible to the greater Phoenix area, and would be willing to extend the collection to seriously interested parties.

The number precursing each listing is the quantity I have of said wine.

Of the Ridge Monte Bello, I have a boxed case... six bottles, in their original wooden box. The box is not nearly as presentable as the bottles it contains.

I have the single bottle of Gaya Sori San Lorenzo.

Two bottles of the Marchesi di Barolo.

One bottle of Moueix Dominus, and one of the Hartwell Stags Leap District.

If you do know of people who'd be interested in these, as I mentioned, I'd be more than happy to be cooperative. I prefer whites, and it seems silly to keep these reds, even if they are genuinely nice to have as "collector's show bottles"

Thanks!!
