I have a bottle of wine from Romania called Premiat Romanian Cabernet Sauvignon (Vin Romanesc). Circa somewhere in the 1960's. The original price was $269. Can anyone tell me what this bottle might be worth today? I know you can't find it in the states anymore.

Welcome to the WineBoard, 6026 (we already have a Kat here). Premiat's wines have always been best drunk young, so something from the 60's would be way over the hill, even with perfect storage conditions. You appear to have misplaced a decimal point on the price, too. The correct price for your wine would be about $2.69. I remember buying that one in the early eighties and it was $2.99 then. Price for the current vintage is about $5.50. The wine is still available here in the U.S. and is imported by Monsieur Henri, as well as other Premiat wines - Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.

Kat, that and many other Eastern block wines were indeed imported by Monsieur Henri which was the wine arm of PEPSICO. They traded Pepsi syrup for the wines so, other than transport, the wines cost essentially $0.00 landed and they were able to wholesale them for VERY small money and still make a bundle.

At this late stage in its life, that wine might taste better BLENDED with Pepsi. Sorry, Roberto
