Hi Luigi, and welcome to the Wine Board. We could give you a very complex answer here, but it might still leave you with questions. We could also suggest that you peruse our site from top to bottom, but that still might not answer your questions about which color different wines are. So, the best advice is to read a good book. We're sure you are an intellegent person, but the best tome for beginners is "Wine for Dummies." It is excellent and an easy read. As far as the best wines in each category, that is a complex and subjective question. First you need to pick a price point, because if all the best wines cost over $1000.00 how much good would that do for you? Even within say the $20.00 price point, you would not get two of us to agree on one category because of the subjectivity.

After reading the book, please come and use our board for all additional questions.
