I just rec'd a bottle of the above from a friend who's husband just passed away - he was a wine fanatic. Its a 1970 Rodney Strong Zin - handwritten label with "special bottling #B201", release date 4/1/70, bottled at Windsor Vineyards, signed Rodney Strong, winemaker. Another guest of my party asked me later if I would be willing to sell it - I'm not sure I would part w/it - but can anybody tell me a value appox? I contacted the winery but haven't heard a word. Thank you!!!!

Unfortunately zip -- it is long since dead. Even old Swan Zins do not last this long.....

Hi Amyt and welcome to the board. A few things confuse me . You say " Handwritten lable with the release date of 4/01/70 and the vintage date of 1970." One of the two is wrong because the 1970 vintage of zinfandels wouldn't even have been in the barrels before
9/01/70. The vines were just starting to bud in April. Aside from that, the above advice is rite on. In those days the affable Mr. Strong was more interested in keeping up his moves on the dance floor than putting a good bottle on the table.( And if memory serves me correctly, his 1st vintage was around 72) I know his 1st Alexanders Crown Cab was in the 74 vintage. Sell that sucker to that sucker. WW
