Yeah, I know, it's not wine country, but I will be there in March and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to a good restaurant. I'm not looking to wear a tux to dinner, but I would like good food and wine to go with it.Thanks.

Jeff

If you've never been to Brennan's, you should do it at least once. Coat & tie, but no tux recommended. Favorite spot is Commander's Palace. Delmonico's has had it's ups and downs, it's current up due to it's acquisition by Emeril. Speaking of him, have not been to Emeril's main joint, but have heard good words. Mr B's Bistro on our favorite street in town, Royal, is the most casual place with great wine we know of.

Thanks, IK. I should have mentioned that I'm looking for an Emeril-free restaurant, as we already have made reservations for one night at NOLA's.

I second IK`s reccomendations, with one small alteration. I love to go to Brennans for breakfast. Their Eggs Houssard are to die for and a bottle of Champagne with the Eggs and the exquisite Bananas Foster will put many a weak heart in cardiac arrest. Have fun. WW

I spent two weeks in Nawhleans and never got to any of these places. Spent too much time on Bourbon Street throwing beads up to the balconies, drinking, and eating the local sandwiches...........

The sights were something else, especially when one of the aforementioned strings of beads was caught by a young beauty......

I had a lot of good food, sucked a lot of crawfish and ate a tonne of rice and sausage and black beans. What did I miss? Delmonico's? That's a steak place, eh? They are a dime a dozen. Spending time on the streets during the Mardi Gras..... that's priceless........

The bead thing may be somewhat difficult as I am going with my wife. But if I can escape for one of the days by myself while she shops...

WW is like a blind pig after a truffle -- every now and then a jewel shows up. Brennan's for breakfast is a real treat and WW is spot on. IK is dead on with the rec for Commander's Palace. And if the opportunity presents, go down in the early morn for cafe au lait and beingets at Cafe du Monde -- priceless.
