I have a magnum of 1978 Mondavi Cab that has been stored very well. The ulage is good. Does anyone have an idea what it's value might be? Thanks for any help!

Joseph

Chef1, Welcome... which model? (vineyard etc.)

Hi Drew, It's just a "regular" bottling, no specific vineyard. I know '78 was a pretty decent year, and the fact that it's a magnum should help in it's aging. Any idea's? Thanks, Joseph

The 78 Reserve was highly rated by several critics, whereas the Napa bottling was panned (example - Parker gave it an 84). It will be a tough sell.

As I've observed on the board many times, the 78s' IMHO have all gone over the hill with 2 exceptions. The last 78 Mondavi reserve I had was dying. 78 was a vintage with ultra-ripe juice that was acid-deficient. The massive amount of fruit was its' salvation. WW
