My first screw top bottle of wine...not counting the mad dog 40 and Richard's wild Irish Rose consumed during formative years.
This is a Mediterranean blend of Syrah, Cab Franc, Carignane, Sangiovese, Barbera, Petit Sirah, Petit Verdot, Mourvedre, Dolchetto, Grenache and Nebbiolo. I had the 2000 and 1999 previously and enjoyed as a picnic, bbq, pizza wine but this one tasted flat like it had been open for a while. It could have been the shock of the screw top...will try another and post. Sure do hate the screw top.

My note:

2001 Ca' del Solo, Big House Red, California, $10. Thirteen grape varieties are used in the production of this wine. Chewy and rustic, the red instills visions of a sidewalk café, a carafe of wine, and a steaming plate of manicotti. 86/88.
