- snlvr - 12-12-2000 I am trying to find information on the following wine Duas Quintas, Douro Reserva 1994, Adriano Ramos-Pinto, Vila Nova de Gaia Can anyone direct me to a website for this? - hotwine - 12-12-2000 The Ramos-Pinto website is at http://www.aevp.pt/associados/english/arpintoi.html Wine Spectator states: "A finely sculpted red with rich ripe flavors of plum, raspberry and dark cherry and plenty of spice. Has a lovely aroma of cassis and a nice broad frame. Dark chocolate and mocha flavors chime in on the finish. Drink now through 2002. $27." The Larousse Encyclopedia entry on Adriano Ramos-Pinto states: "One of the most innovative firms in the port trade, with considerable research in viticulture and winemaking. Until recently it was owned by 42 members of the Ramos-Pinto family, but now control is in the hands of the Roederer Champagne house. The firm owns five quintas: Santo Domingos, Bom-Retiro, Urtiga, Bons-Ares and Ervamoira. Two of its aged tawnies are released as single-quinta wines: Bom-Retiro (a 20-year-old) and Ervamoira (a 10-year-old); the firm also produces vintage wines that are known for their considerable elegance." Sounds like you have a winner in the '94 red. Gil in shivvering Texas |
