- Jordi - 03-07-2000 Dear friends! I'm a student in a swiss hotel-school, and I need some information that that I'm not able to find for the moment. I would like to know which are the wine quality cerftification systems used in New York State? Also I will be pleased if you could notice me where I can find infomation about methods of Viticulture and vinification in NY state. Thank you very much in advance. Jordi. - glenora - 03-08-2000 Jordi-- The are no wine quality certification systems in place in New York. The industry has never been able to agree on one, although there have been several attempts at the same over the years, and thankfully the government has stayed out of it. A good starting point for more information on viticulture and vinification in New York would be Dr. Thomas Henick-Kling at Cornell University-- e-mail at th12@cornell.edu Thomas heads Cornell's vinification lab and can point you towards others who can provide viticultural information--most likely Dr. Robert Pool. Good luck, also I am curious as to why a Swiss Hotel School student has an interest in the New York wine and grape industry - Jim Mc - 03-08-2000 Dr Pool has a website at http://www.nysaes.cornell.edu/hort/faculty/pool/GrapePagesIndex.html You can also go to google.com, or any search engine, and type in the name of NY state wineries and you will probably find websites for the wineries. Some of the producers with websites are: Glenora Dr Frank Heron Hill Fox Run Hermann Weimer Lamoreaux Landing That's how I find websites; hope this helps. |
