Well, the snow is up to our fannies, so tomorrow I plan to make one of Innkeepers delicious-sounding recipes, put a log on the fire and cuddle with my sweetie (probably in front of the Weather Channel!) Nothin' like a good snowstorm, I always say!

Hi Georgie, welcome to the Board. Saw you hanging around this weekend. We didn't get any new snow; just the foot and a half we already had on the ground. It is supposed to creep about zero today, so maybe we will celebrate!

All we have is rain, wind and higher than normal tides. No snow here, but icy conditions and the snow line are only about 35 to 40 miles from here toward the west and north west.
Drew must be snowed in! I talked to my father yesterday afternoon and he said they already had 8" on top of the 4" that was already laying around on the ground. Have not spoken with him this morning, but he must be inundated. Newark, Delaware is right in line with the worst part of the storm, according to the weather maps I saw this morning.
News people are talking like this is the storm of the century. Hogwash, it is just a lil ole snow storm, just a puddle jumper.
I can remember the days when they put chains on the school buses or told us we had to walk to school because they were not closing just because of a couple of feet of snow!

Things are back to normal here in the desert. After the largest total rainfall in a 24 hour period in history the sand has soaked up the moisture and the temps will "creep" a scoce above 70 today. WW [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img]

Snow?! Whassat? It was 33F when we went to the gym at 0600 this AM, and sun's bright now, with 67F the day's target temp. Sun, sun, more sun.

One winter in Newport Rhode Island it got so cold that the supply hose bringing potable water to our ship froze solid.
We had three lengths of inch & one-half fire hose run out to carry the water onboard. Each hose was 50 feet long if I remember correctly.
What a nightmare it was trying to get that hose inside the ship so we could thaw it out. Thank goodness the ship's tanks were topped off so we could use them and the ship's water pump to supply water.
Back in those days you could, if you were brave enough, walk across Naragansett Bay (at least until the icebreakers came into the bay to bust a path to Providence Plantation.
[Did you know that Rhode Island is not a state? Like Virginia it is a Commonwealth. The correct and full name of the place is The Commonwealth of Rhode Island and Providence Plantation.]
I had a friend in New London, Connecticut who could remember taking the front tires off of the tin lizzy and putting on ski-like devices. The vehicle would then be used to drive over to Long Island from New London via the short route - over the the ice on the sound.

Do you people on the east coast really think you are having a tough winter? Well, we poor people of the Pacific Northwest are REALLY having it tough!!! In Vancouver, we haven't had snow ONCE this year!!! (snicker) In fact, snow levels in western Canada are much below normal (avalanches killing many people notwithstanding) which will likely cause major problems with droght next summer !! Now THAT IS A TOUGH WINTER !
