At least one retailer in this area is apparently checking wine boards, including this one, for raves about particular wines, then jacking the shelf price of his inventory of the touted juice. I've noticed that twice in the last month, from two different companies, and I don't think it's a coincidence. In one case, the wine's price was boosted 50% overnight, and in the other, it was doubled! It's reached the point that I don't even want to hear (or read) about good wines being available at bargain prices, because they'll cease being bargains within about 24 hours. Bah!

At least you are in a competive market (if you count San Antonio). Even in our non-competive market we have our options. Fortunately we have two huge (one now national) supermarket chains that are allowed to sell wine, that keep a lot of prices down. We also have some retailers that are not greedy (thankfully a Maine trait), and for the most part only carry things the supermarkets don't. This gives us alot of local options. So, I buy about 25% of my wine locally. Why only 25%? Because you guys have broadly widened my horizon.

I'd confront that greedy bugger and let him know that you know that he's a....Oh Well!WW

In one case, I did, WW. He just grinned, and lowered the price back down the next day.
