Today we say good-bye to Art Carney, one of my all-time favorites. My favorite schtick of his was when he'd go to write or do something with his hands and would take forever to get started. It drove Ralph Cramden crazy and made me laugh out loud. His was a unique brand of comedy!

It was indeed, Georgie. And fittingly, he was a vet of the Normandy Invasion.... shot up in the leg and walked with a limp from then on. Loved his stuff, even more than "the Great One's".

He made a pretty damned believeable serious actor as well. Does anyone know that he won SIX Emmy Awards? I just heard that today.

Was a pretty swingin' song and dance man. Tons of talent. Oh well, we have Iced Tea, and "Dice" Clay as replacements. WW

Art Carney was the original Felix Unger in the Broadway production of Odd Couple. Sadly, he lost the job because of his problem with alcohol, but he was the man who brought to life the pathos of that enduring character.

Incidentally, I read his biography three years past and, according to the book, he had conquered alcohol a number of years ago.
