- Lawrence - 02-15-2005 Would anybody be able to help me with a query I have about a bottle of wine I have. It is a 1986 Burg Layer Schlosskapelle 1.5 litres. I would like some general information about this wine, whether it is drinkable, what it's value might be etc. - Kcwhippet - 02-15-2005 Welcome to the WineBoard, Lawrence. The wine you have is made in Nahe, between the Rhine and the Mosel. The grapes used are Muller Thurgau (60%), Sylvaner (30%) and Riesling (10%). It's a light, fruity wine that generally is best drunk fairly young, probably within about three or four years from vintage, so I doubt your bottle is still viable. Current price is about US$16.50, which is about 9 GBP for the 1.5L, so I don't see any real value to the bottle. You can probably keep it around as a conversation piece, or chill it up, pop the cork and hope for the best. [This message has been edited by Kcwhippet (edited 02-15-2005).] |
