I won't be in Raleigh this weekend (was just there Tuesday evening and most of the day Wednesday--saw the Norman Rockwell exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Art) but Raleigh will be rockin! NHL All-Star game on Sunday. Downtown area is having a Fan Fair and various activities prior to the big game. ACC basketball tonight. Hotels and restaurants are booked. Good boost to the local economy. Will give some hockey fans a break from the snow in the Northeast. A new terminal at the Raleigh-Durham Airport opened just in time for the hockey fans. I hope it all goes off well and leaves visitors with a good impression of North Carolina's capital city.

Being of the Canadian type, I've been watching the leadup to the allstar game and I must say that it's been different and a lot of fun,

Instead of a conference all star versus a conference all star, they have two captains out of all the all-stars who then pick teams, school yard style. All the anxiety of the school yard life came back, no one wanted to be picked LAST!!! Even these guys with their inflated contract and ego, did not want to go last! That was an interesting way to do things. also , now you have teammates playing against each other, you have brothers from different teams on the same team and twins who have never played apart now on opposing sides!

The skills competition was interesting last night. Good to see the fans get all into.
