- robr - 11-30-2005 I'm planning on opening this tonight. I'm curious, are all Cotes-du-Rhone reds made from Syrah? The varietial(s) used are not listed on the label, of course. - wondersofwine - 11-30-2005 http://www.chiff.com/wine/europe/cotes-du-rhone.htm This website gives a good explanation of the grapes used. I think most Cotes du Rhone reds blend Syrah and Grenache but the website says Carignan, Mourvedre and Cinsault also play a part in some of the red wines. - Kcwhippet - 11-30-2005 I'm pretty sure Andezon is one of the Cote du Rhones that's made from all Syrah, with no other grapes blended in. - robr - 11-30-2005 Very very nice juice from the South of France. Typical "spicy" Syrah flavors. Color is redish-purple, nose is strong with alcohol (14%) and dark fruits; starts with raspberries, cherries, black currant, and finishes with just a bit of dark chocolate! Delicious! I paid around $12 at B-21 in Tarpon Springs, FL. |
