or anyone else who may have experience with Shafer's Relentless. I have been "blessed" with being put on all their mailing lists and am pondering buying their 2001 Relentless at $60 per + shipping. 81% Syrah and 19% Petite Syrah. 28 months in 85% new French Oak. Sounds like a winner, but I have no experience. Any suggestions? Pass or stock up? I'm allocated 6.

No experience with the wine but Parker loved the '99 and '00 versions describing opulant fruit, velvet texture etc. Sounds like a mouthful.

As much a fan of Johns' wines as I am it galled mr that he priced his syrah higher than Vieux Telegraph, Donjon, and close to the marvelous wines of Guigal and Chapoutier all of which have a track record to be envied. Bought the 01 Napa and SLD, and have the Hillside on order but they have given me lots of drinking pleasure over the years. I've become very discriminate on new intros from any and all that haven't rung the bell for me. WW
