2002 Domaine Lafond, Roc-Epine, Lirac ($8.99 Chambers Street). The Lirac APC comes from the Southeast side of the Rhone. It can be no more than 40% Grenache, and 60% something else. This one had nice black fruit and spice on the nose and upfront, was so smooth in the middle that it seemed soft (i.e. flabby), but things picked up for a spicy finish. True love disagreed with my middle evaluation, saying that our acidic (lemonly) dinner might have been responsible.

We matched it with grillpanned lamb steaks marinated in mint and lemon mayonnaise, roasted Yukon Gold fingerlings, and salad with B.C. dressing.

ther try?.....Fell asleep typing again [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img] Really love good Lirac for it's subtle hints of chambord that I get with most bottles.
