Mendocino County. 14.1%Alc/vol. $16.
Run to find this as it's one of the most fun wines we've had this year. Light, clear burgundy with burnt orange tinges, might even be considered a rose'. Eileen and Ann report a floral nose of raspberry and strawberry, mine's still stuffed up. Spicy sweet raspberry and strawberry flavors with a hint of rhubarb. Rather oily and full in the mouth but has perfect refreshing acidity and fine grained tannins to complete a well balanced package. The finish is very long and satisfying. Paired with marinated, grilled flank steak done just to medium rare, garlic roasted quartered red potatoes and a mixed green salad with white balsamic vinegar dressing with feta, dried sweet cranberries and frosted almonds. Dining on the porch of our "Seaside Resort" on the water in OC with our good friend Ann from Baltimore. The skies cleared beautifully late this afternoon to FINALLY allow some outdoor fun from the stalled rainy front that has tortured us for the past couple of days.
