- oostexan - 07-11-2007 Took a while to get going...let it air for 2 hours. Medium ruby color, nose of floral black fruit and soft Hermitage nose. Palate of bacon, casis, tar, and smoked meat notes. Kind of has a small compact mid palate of concentrated fruit, but not a particularly long finish or enticing mouthfeel. It is obviously Crozes, but not a blockbuster. Still, its good juice for the $15 fare. I prefer it over the cheapy Aussies or Calis. Soft tannins but still evolving. Might wait 6 months before I try another one. Went well with heavily seasoned grilled pork tenderloin. - Innkeeper - 07-11-2007 Good plan. Our experience with Crozes' is they usually need five to get there. - TheEngineer - 07-13-2007 favourite producer in Croze Hermitage is Alain Grillot. While its a bit more expensive, it's worth the price of admission. |
