Yes this is the "non premiere cuvee" from the same winery that makes the Les Quartz, not to be confused with the other Cailloux.

Hey, I like your palate -- similar to mine. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img] I have a case of the stuff in the cellar and we opened a bottle about three weeks ago. Approachable now, the wine still has a lot of life left in it. I'll probably wait another couple of years before opening the next bottle. Please tell me you are a Pegau fan as well.

Bucko...I love my taste as well, my wallet does not, but these are the sacrifices that some must make. I have never tried a Pegau, not something that my locals or connections have on hand. But from your inquiry, it sounds like something that I should search for.

I have only 3 in the cellar and have never tried one, sounds like I should give it a tad more.

Yeah big on the Rhone over here so we will have to swap stories and rec's. Dont know if you read my 99 BdP CdP Chante Merle review but that was fantastic, that and the 03 Autard Cuvee Rhonde (dont know if i spelled it like the wine or the defensive back, both ways it looked wrong, but you know what i mean...)stradle the modern/traditional dichotomy with such finesse that it is unbelievable.

For comparison, one that I didnt feel held true to its CdP heritage was the Alain Jaume Grand Veneur Les Origines. Absolutely delicious, hugely extracted, but could have been a bottle of Two Hands Bella's Garden for all i knew. Heavy on the syrah and fruit ignoring other qualities all together. If Bobbo has his way this would be the future of Rhone, but i personally like it the way it is.

Disclaimer: The Les Origines is amazing, it just doesnt make the same nice that a traditional CdP would make with some med-rare grilled muscovy duck breast. Think pheasant or stuffed pork tenderloin instead.
