Having this as I type. It's a trocken Spätlese from Rheingau. Pleasant, but not particularly interesting. Nice straw color. Crisp in the mouth, but all flavor (mostly citrus) seems to be muted. I paid 9 Euros. Wouldn't buy it again. I'm thinking much of this will go into the leek soup that my wife is preparing at the moment to give it a little zip.

No more sissy whites for me for awhile. Alsace red? Are they producing any good ones there? I thought that was strictly white territory. DM

Son't miss the spatbur.... what ever,Pinot Noirs from Germany now too. There are some very nice ones.
