Along with the wines from the Cotat cousins, this is one of my favorite Sauvignon Blancs from Sancerre. It is another that can hold up to several years of cellaring. Consumed with fried chicken strips, this was crisp and more citrusy (lemon and grapefruit) than grassy. It had a steely aspect that I found pleasing and an almost chewy texture while savored on the palate. Le Chene is an upper tier of Lucien Crochet Sauvignon Blanc (or Lucien "Crockett" as one diner mispronounced it at a restaurant.) The second evening I paired it with broccoli in a cream sauce and it made an admirable pairing. I think it would also complement asparagus and ham crepes or potatoes au gratin, contrasting with the creaminess of the potato dish.
