- Georgie - 04-10-2003 mmm-mmm-mmm! This is delicious ruby port that warms you all the way down and keeps on warming for several minutes. Enjoyed it with a fudgy brownie this evening. Pretty nice treat for a weeknight! ooohweee! and after glass #2, I don't believe I'll be grading any papers tonight! [This message has been edited by Georgie (edited 04-10-2003).] - Bucko - 04-10-2003 After glass number 2, just WHAT were you doing, little missy? - Georgie - 04-11-2003 Quickly putting the cork back in the bottle before I could pour glass #3! (and that's all the info you're getting, Bucko! ) - winoweenie - 04-11-2003 " And A Star Rises in the East ". Attagirl Lady-G WW - dananne - 04-11-2003 If your students are anything like mine, they might prefer you graded their papers after glass #2 - Georgie - 04-11-2003 I had an English teacher in HS that we KNOW had a flask in her desk drawer. Seemed appalling at the time...now not such a bad idea, really... - dananne - 04-11-2003 Yeah, we had one in HS, also. Somehow, I don't think he was what inspired me to get into the field of education, however It really is amazing the things that passed for acceptable teacher behavior in the past. Not too long ago, an ashtray on the teacher's desk wouldn't look out of place. I actually interviewed an older, experienced teacher for a position at my school a few years ago who asked me about the school's policy about smoking at school. I couldn't believe the question! There is no policy, as there is no smoking! It makes you wonder about people . . . - Georgie - 04-11-2003 Yes, times have certainly changed. - Bucko - 04-11-2003 Next you're going to tell us that they don't allow sex at school anymore...... - winoweenie - 04-11-2003 If they don't have a band why would they need a sax player HerrDocktor? WW - Georgie - 04-11-2003 Where is that Innkeeper? This group has run amok since he's been away! - hotwine - 04-12-2003 Run amok? This bunch? More like SHUFFLE amok. Ran my five miles this morning... - Bucko - 04-12-2003 I ran to my coffee maker...... - Georgie - 04-12-2003 Shuffle amok..that's very funny. Today I dragged my feet to a required five hour CPR/First Aid certification class. My head is spinning. God help anybody who will ever depend on me to save them. I volunteer to be the one who calls 911 and waves the EMT's in. - hotwine - 04-12-2003 Five hours of anything is at least three too many, Georgie. I've only need to give sorta-CPR a couple of times. Good whomps on the chest seemed to work just fine. - Georgie - 04-12-2003 This used to be a 27 hour course! Is it any wonder that I'm confused? Adult, child, infant, choking/conscious, choking unconscious, not breathing with a pulse, not breathing without a pulse, fractures, burns, shock, hypothermia, heat stroke, seizures, poison,...good grief! About the only thing they didn't cover was snake bite! I am now thankfully on my way to a Garden State Philharmonic concert where I intend to sit back and decompress to some lovely music. (and maybe drink a couple of glasses of Port when I get home! I deserve it today! - winoweenie - 04-12-2003 Our schools offer a Phd in snake-bite with tuiton discounts for outta'-staters, WW - Georgie - 04-12-2003 Thanks,WW, I'll suggest that at the next staff meeting. - Bucko - 04-12-2003 Don't let WW kid you -- the snakes are afraid that he'll bite them...... But then what do I know? I spent the first five years of school in the corner..... - Georgie - 04-13-2003 Oh, I'm sure you were a teacher's dream, Bucko. Maybe more like a nightmare. But to tell you the truth, I'm more partial to those little bad-uns with the fun personalities than to the goody-goods. Somebody with a good sense of humor will do well in life. Of course, you were probably really smart as well as full of hell, am I right? That's the ultimate best combo! [This message has been edited by Georgie (edited 04-13-2003).] |
