Recently returned from Hawaii and brought back a Hawaiian pineapple wine. So I thought about the different states represented in my cellar.
California (of course)
Michigan (my home state)
Virginia (an '85 cab believe it or not!)
New York ( a Merlot from Long Island)
Hawaii (my pineapple wine!)

New Mexico
South Carolina
And I've tasted nice stuff from a number of other states including Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Michigan, Tennessee and Arkansas.

In addition to the obvious California, Oregon, and Washington, I currently have wine from Georgia (gotta support the local folks), Tennessee, North Carolina, New Mexico, Virginia, and Florida (a Red Noble Muscadine).
And, I may have a wine from Alabama's Perdito Vineyards around somewhere . . .
Oh, and BTW, Zinner, was wondering what you've had from GA?

How many states represented in the cellar?
Lessee.... Madness, Extravagance, Insanity, Obsession, Gluttony, Hysteria, Bliss.... that's seven. Plus Yee-haw, which covers all of the above.

Andy, I would guess that there are ten times more wineries in Idaho that there are in Utah. It is an emerging wine region; though some have been there a long time.

I only have CA, OR, and WA in the cellar. This is not due to any snobbery, rather availability. I have tried wines from 21 states.

Andypandy-- yes, Idaho. Has some good wines which I discovered a few years back when I judged a Northwest wine competition at Mt. Hood in Oregon. Would love to go tour Idaho sometime. I believe they have a fun wine festival late in the summer.
Dananne --have had most of them, including Wolf Mountain, Crane Creek, Tiger Mountain, Frogtown, Habersham, Chateau Elan, Three Sisters, Persimmon Creek.

Zinner -- It's cool that you've tasted all those from GA. We've had all that you've mentioned, save Frogtown and Persimmon Creek. Have to confess to being partial to Tiger Mountain (well-done and interesting wines year in and out and very nice people who are courteous almost to a fault). Was less thrilled with a recent visit to Three Sisters (only liked their Cynthiana, and even that was just passable, but the real problem was that the owner gave the impression that we were imposing on them for being there, and didn't really want to engage in any conversation or answer questions).

Dananne -- Well I did a story on Georgia wineries once, but don't know if I want to claim it or not, because the editor edited some outright mistakes into it. He got in touch with some PR flack at one of the wineries and took her claims over the information that the winemaker and vineyard manager had given me.
It's stuff like this that just makes me crazy and so when I can get my life simplified just a little, I'll be working on my own website, one that I think will complement what this one and others do. Hope to have some good info directed to novices. At least that way I can control exactly what goes on there.
Suggest you visit Frogtown which is near Wolf Mountain. Lots of soaring wood arches which I think they built with out nails. Persimmon Creek, I've tasted, but haven't actually seen. They had some nice whites.
Too bad about your experience at Three Sisters since they like to promote themselves as folksy, unintimidating and friendly. Perhaps depends on the mood you catch him in, as I do know he offended some of the other winery folks enough that when he had a wine festival, they refused to participate. That's a shame.
