I would like to choose one chardonnay and one either Merlot or Cab/Sauv
Choices are:
Burlwood Merlot chardonnay, merlot or cab
Deakin Estate chardonnay or merlot
Belvedere chardonnay or merlot
Marcelina chardonnay or cab
Kenwood chardonnay merlot or cab

Any suggestions. From the bit I have read I see three are owned by Gallo!

Welcome to the board, April. And congrats, if the wedding being planned is your own.

Are these choices being restricted by your caterer?

Hi April02 and welcome to the board. The heads and shoulders best of the group you list is the Kenwood. You need to get more info such as the vintage, where the grapes are from etc. Post this and it'll be helpful. WW

Have to disagree. The '98 Kenwood Cab is terrible, red and tart. Wine Spectator deservedly gave it an 80.

I'd go with the Belvedere Cab.

eskinnyc. Maybe you didn't finish my post. I asked for more specifics on the wines which includes the vintage date. Year after year, the Kenwood can spot the Belvedere the 7-8-9 and the break. If they are all 98s' I'da advised her to see if she could buy her own. WW ( Also she asked about Merlots, not Cabs )
