1997 Goosecross Cellars Chardonnay; Napa Valley - $21.00

Brassy, yellow color. Nose full and delicious with wonderful scents of fresh apple, pear and honey topped off with a hint of cream and touched ever so delicately with smoke. On the palate, a wonderful drink which is superbly balanced with crisp apple and pear flavors brought into focus with honey and cream. The oak is perfectly in check and it’s use is perfect so as to accent the fruit’s qualities. Refreshing, absolutely enjoyable to drink and should age well with it’s excellent balance.

I have always appreciated Geoff Gorsuch’s Chardonnays. He delivers what I consider to be an excellent balance of tradition coupled with ripe California fruit to deliver a super wine.

I haven't had the 1997, but historically I have always wished they had a little more oak, but then I've always believed that if God wanted Chardonnay to taste like grapes He wouldn't have invented oak trees.

LOL!!!

Interesting Curmy. Historically, I've always liked the wine because it's NOT heavily oaked. ;-)

And that's just part of the reason we have 2000 wineries in the US
