2002 Pouilly Fuisse (Bouchard & Fils)
2001 Rully (Bouchard...)
2001 Chassagne-Montrachet (Bouchard)
2001 Puligny-Montrachet (Bouchard)

Had with an appetizer of Tomme de Savoie cheese which was served with ultra-thin green apple slices and strawberry slices and toasted bread.

The Pouilly Fuisse was slightly deeper than a straw color. Its flavor went best with the green apple slices--tart apple flavors in the wine. Not as impressive as some Pouilly Fuisse I've had.

The Rully wine was a slightly deeper color. it seemed to have more substance than the first wine and a longer finish.

It was hard to bring out the nose of the Chassagne-Montrachet, but it had a nice flavor of spiced pear, tropical fruit and a little smokiness. Quite viscous--formed legs on the glass. My favorite of the four (sometimes I prefer Puligny-Montrachet over Chassagne-Montrachet, especially with premier cru wines). The Rully seemed refreshing and light in comparison to the C.-M., although I thought it had more substance than the first wine.

The Puligny-Montrachet had the most aroma. However, it spoke to me more of oak and vanillin than fruit. It did have some mouth presence and grip. The Chassagne-Montrachet is the only one of the four I might consider purchasing depending on its price.

Sounds delicious, WOW--I love French white Burgundies, so I'll keep an eye out for your recs. And you've reminded me that I need to go downtown and get some Tomme de Savoie, a truly delectable cheese.
