2002 Georges DuBeoeuf, Jean Descombes, Morgon ($3.07 Pops). Alcohol level: 13%. On the eye it is ruby red with no bricking. On the nose and tongue tip you get black cherry and blackberries. Holds up fine in the middle with cinnamon and vanilla notes, and finishes nicely. I’m still a bottom feeder. We picked this up from Pop’s Bin Ends. It cost $36.84 for the case and $9.50 shipped or $3.36 per bottle delivered.

Matched it with broiled smoked beef sausage and spinach; next we are going to try a Coq-a-Vin.

Descombes is a reliable producer, going back at least to his '97. Good catch at an incredible price.

A prudent person would occasionally peruse Pops End-Bin wines from time to time: http://www.popswine.com/ They have wines origionally at all price points. There is even some '00 Bordeaux there now.

That's quite an impressive list at Pop's.

D is off to Houston this next weekend, and will pick up a few goodies for us at Spec's.

I enjoyed this wine at the Beaujolais dinner last November and ordered two bottles but at $11 each. Your price was amazing.

If there was ever a valid agrument for resting this wine proves it. It is drinking much better now than it did three weeks ago. Bev did not even like it at first; and now thinkis it's lovely. We had a bottle last night with complex burgers cooked over charcoal and mesquite chips. Mmmmm good.

Heckuva deal on an old favorite, IK. As I always say "A good dry wine at a great price is really sweet."

Another last night with burgers grilled over charcoal with white cedar chips. Yum, yum. We think we we use the last bottle with Coq au Vin! Maybe next weekend.
