Most of the Vinho Verdes I've tried this year have been much too sweet, but this one's a winner.... light and crisp with the faintest touch of sweetness. Nice as an aperatif or with baked white fish (think tilapia). Can't find the alky content on the label but suspect 10% or less; also can't find the receipt, but do know it was from Costco and cheap.

Getting too danged forgetful as I roar head-long toward my three score and ten...

Hotwine,

If you can find it, try Gazela ($4-$5) and 8% alc. Crisp, slight fizz, refreshing.

While I cook in summer I mix 2 ounces Gazela Vinho Verde, 2 ounces sparkling water, one whole key lime squeezed, sprig of mint--makes the cooking go smoothly and the sweat dry up!

We brought in one of the nicest Vinho Verdes I've tried in years. For quite a while now they've seemed so insipid. This one is wonderful. It's Tres Castas, and we sell it for $7.99.

Hotwine,

We hit over 100 F yesterday and it threatens the same today. This cooling concoction is all that I have to allow me to stand in the kitchen long enough to get the food cooked. And since it is soooo cheap ($48 per), I buy it by the multiple cases...don't even have to spend energy in the heat to open it: twist cap. :-D
