I think it was "Wine Spectator" that had a recent article on Washington State wines. They mentioned that a number of tasting rooms and vinting facilities are located in Western Washington (Seattle and Woodinville area) but source grapes from the Columbia Valley or other locations east of the Cascade range. Some of the wine producers just plain choose to live near the big city of Seattle rather than in Walla Walla or Prosser or such.
