Both these guys came in a gift pack 375 bottle. Popped them open after a jam packed tasting, but managed to get the feel for these delicious after dinner wines. The 1979 was slightly more ripe displaying soft undertones of sugar cane, carmel, creme brule and vanilla. Would do well with some tiramasu or flan. The 1986 was close in style, but had less of a grip than the 79, but still had nice texture and velvet tannins that showed itself in the back of the tongue. Serve slightly chilled, goes well with nuts or dessert. For me... I drink then I smoke a cigar.

Sounds like a great evening there! I agree with you on the 86's. Seems more approachable than others that preceeded it.
