Horton vineyards in Virginia makes a credible port. You can find information about the winery at www.hvwine.com.

Their 1998 port sells for $20.00.

I was not disappointed with it.

As for sherry, I thought Gallo made sherry? Might be I'm wrong.

Hi Chuck1775 and welcome to the board. There are several wineries making port in Calif now. The best and oldest IMHO is Ficklin. Guenoc has made some as have Murphy Goode, Pedroncelli, Rosenblum, Schuetz Oles, Schweiger, Wellington, and Woodbridge. Don't think of anyone on my coast making a sherry. WW

Spain is the home of Sherry. Unless you really have a problem with Spain, you should buy their's. You can get quality Spanish Sherry for the same price as the American bulk imitators. You should know that it comes in all sorts of sweetness from dry (Fino) to very sweet (Oloroso or Cream).

I have bottles of Woodbridge '93, '94 and '95 and all are unique and delicious. None over $15.
