Sorry I don't remember the vintage on this. We ate in a unbelievably good restaurant named Forno's of Spain in Newark, NJ last night and I tried white port for the first time. I didn't like it as well as the rubies and tawnies I've come to love. It was served in an iced glass which surprised me. They did offer a $100. a glass 67 vintage that I declined....gotta win that lottery...

I really like the Barros 20 and 30 year Tawnies, Georgie. They are excellent with a hunk of Stilton and some walnuts. Haven't had the white yet.

Georgie, I don't think white port is bottled as vintaged wine.

Can anyone confirm that?

The 67 vintage wasn't a white. I think it was a ruby. I didn't notice whose it was; I just couldn't get over the $100 price tag!

I'm not sure if the vintage is shown on white Port or not but I do know that it is intended to be consumed while young and is recommended to be served chilled as an aperitif. The couple representing Rocha Port at a tasting in Raleigh, suggested white Port as a summer sipper.

I looked up my previous notes from the Rocha tasting and they also recommended trying white Port instead of gin or vodka with tonic water.

Well, that would explain the iced glass. Thanks for your input, everybody.

Hey everybody

In fact you can either drink a young, shallow, fresh white port as a good apperitive drink or a mature, complex, old white port capable of a harder dispute.

Mario,

If you can sneak me a bottle of Niepoort White Port I'd be appreciative...
