- Bucko - 04-12-2003 2000 Saucelito Canyon, Zinfandel, Arroyo Grande Valley, California, $20. Blackberry and cherry aromas leap from the glass. Light to medium-bodied and the tannins are very easy on the taster. Similar flavors linger on the palate, with a slight peppery note coming in late. This is a good food wine. 88/88. 2001 Saucelito Canyon, Zinfandel, Late Harvest, Arroyo Grande Valley, California, $20 (375 ml), 93 cases. Think extract of crushed berries and roses when smelling this wine. Intensely sweet (15% residual sugar) and fruity, with layers of blackberries, cherries, chocolate and coffee unfolding. The acidity matches the sweetness. 88/88. - Thomas - 04-13-2003 Nice Zinfandel producer over the years, but prone to price creep. - winoweenie - 04-13-2003 Price Creep? I just checked and I paid 17.50 per clatter for a box of their 94. Sounds more like " Snail Creep " to me.WW - Thomas - 04-14-2003 Really? I remember the 1994 (on the market in 97) sold on the East Coast for $14 or 15. If my memory is any good, that means the price rose 33 % since. - winoweenie - 04-14-2003 I bought mine at St. Helena Wine Merchants who use winery retail. WW - Thomas - 04-15-2003 ww, sometimes winery retail is higher than retail retail. - winoweenie - 04-15-2003 REALLY!!!! FOODSTER I DINT' KNOW THAT. I also received a 20% case discount. Was merely saying the retail in 96 was 17.50 WW |
