The '97 Grist Zin has a distinctive effervescence on the tongue, which when combined with its astounding bouquet makes it a unique sensory experience. Has anyone else experienced this effervescence or have an explanation for it? Happy Holidays to all!

Sounds like secondary (malolactic) fermentation in the bottle. I am not familiar with Turley Grist Zin, but, IMHO, don't believe they intended the wine to be spritzy.

Their web site is under construction (www.turleywines.com). You might try giving them a call at 707-963-0940.

Thanks for the information! The '97 Grist is still very young; I prefer to drink older Turley zins, but I have to buy them young while I can still afford them. I'll try to find another bottle and hold it for a year or two. Happy New Year!
