15.8% alcohol
From gravel soils around St. Helena, CA
Deep amethyst-garnet color. Viscous. Very ripe bramble berries with some tannins noticeable on tongue and upper palate. Very appealing but might be a tough pairing at dinner. I happened to have it one evening when my main dish was beef stroganoff and another evening with wild mushroom bisque but it might go better with lamb in blackberry sauce. The high alcohol percentage is less noticeable in the mouth than in the aftermath (or after mouth) (the quick buzz following a couple of glasses.)
