Alviso Vineyard, Amador County, CA
16% alcohol! $24 at winery; $24.99 at Dean & Deluca in Charlotte
Cork has company motto: "Food family & friends"
Interesting bios on couple behind Spelletich on their website http://www.spellwine.com/
(same color scheme as bottle labels--more on that later)
This wine really benefits from 30-60 minutes breathing time. Becomes juicy, fruity and food friendly rather than exhibiting too much heat from the alcohol. I had the first bottle with ground beef dishes but may save the second for barbequed pork or beef.
Good looking label. Blue violet background with narrow magenta rim and gold lettering. Heraldry crest with same blue violet background and magenta and gold design with some white. Blue violet suggests dark-skinned grapes to me. Magenta could suggest wine in the glass.
Website says this vineyard (Alviso) allows for grapes to fully ripen while maintaining natural acidity.
They also make Chardonnay, another Zinfandel and Bodog Red, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Zinfandel blend.
