Couldn't figure out why the local shop had a rack full of this stuff, but for 7.99 I gave it a go. Tasted pretty dead with a touch of fruit left. Somehow, there was no sediment. Seems strange for a 12 year old zin. Anyone else ever try this in it's youth?

Another day, another lesson. 12 year old zins, with few exceptions, should be avoided like driving with maximum impairment at the annual Highway Patrolmans Convention. I've had some delightful bottlings from this fine producer, none of which went past the 4-6 year limit. WW [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/wink.gif[/img]

WW, what Zins have you seen make it to the 12 year mark and still be good?

Ridges' Lytton Springs and Geyserville and some of the early Joe Swans. The estate bottled Lytton Springs 1978 made it flying. Some of the early Ch. Montelenas' and Clos du Vals also put on beards wonderfully. I'm not sure because the wines are relatively new but IMHO I think the Scherrer Old & Mature vineyard mite go the distance. WW
