Made entirely from vines planted by Freds' Grampa in 1912 this is a quintessential old vines Zin. Opaque, with tons of red and black fruit on the nose. Large entry, a solid center, and a 4-lapper finish. Lots of spice hits the palate with the rush of straw-black and blueberries. Just developed in the last 6 months is a gorgeous "Marthas'" (mint)character. I haven't picked this up in Freds' zins before. Adds another touch of complexity to an already extremely complex wine. Still with some sweet tannis that should carry it another 4-5. 92/92. 20 on futures by the box. WW
