Up to the 2000's level of fruit at this point which is just enormus. This wine is a mouthful. A fruit bomb? yes. Excellent? yes as well. It would be too much for an every day wine, but as a treat once in a while it is just a knockout. Like a super rich desert that you can only eat so much of, but that first bite...

What's the price these days?

- Glass_A_Day - 08-20-2004

I paid 25 per, but I've seen it as high as 35. Worth the 25.

Ah yes. In the mid 90s when I sold that stuf for a distributor I thought $16 would be too much to ask people to pay. I always liked Elyse Zinfandels but this one sounds a lot less subtle than I found them in the past.

You are right, as subtle as a head but.

I'm new to Elyse. Had a taste at the Nantucket Wine Fest this summer and fell in love! Finished a bottle of the 2000 D'Adventure this weekend. Full of fruit and a soft finish. Just over $20 and well worth it.

Everyone I have poured this wine for has bought some. It seems to be a natural crowd pleaser. Very unique.

Totally agree with all posts, so nothing to add. Good, solid producer. WW

GAD's new bride here posting on our last bottle of our 2001 Elyse. I love saying "our". I was first introduced to it last winter and I am once again pleased by its bold jammy taste. Its like having a mouthful of perfectly ripe dark cherries in every sip.

Welcome, Mrs. GAD

And a big ol' welcome to GNB, and congrats to you both!

- Glass_A_Day - 09-13-2006

Thanks guys, glad to be here. It took some prodding but here I am making my own posts.

Mrs. GAD, you really have to make your own identity and profile. We want to know if it's really you or GAD making the post. BTW, welcome to the WineBoard and congratulations.

Adding my congratulations. I'm sorry to have missed an Elyse wine dinner in Raleigh this spring (also had to pass on the Qupe dinner). I'm sure I would have enjoyed them. Maybe they will repeat next year.

I've been hijacked!!! I advised the wife to set up her own profile (as per KC's advice), which she promised to do later today. I too was impressed with the Elyse. This one needed a little more time than the 00 that was ready out of the chute. The last bottle was the best. I still have some of the 02 and 03 in the cellar. I think the 04 just got released and will be on the lookout.
