This was an Non-vintage.

This is seriously the first time that I've ever tasted a zinfandel. I've read everyone's postings so I figured that it was time to try it...

Hmmm,.....I know that I'll try it again but I think this was a case where the wine was good but I'm not so sure I liked it.

The wine was deep ruby color, rather nice. The nose was very fruity but did not prepare me for what was to come. Wow...this thing is SWEET and loaded with cherries, raspberries, and FRUIT. After being initially bowled over by the fruit, the acid, earth, and tannins came in. The wine was actually rather integrated but the balance seemed all out of wack for me. I tried to recalibrate myself after a week of drier reds....but I couldn't.

The wine was really straight forward and I still have half a bottle left so I will see what it is like tomorrow but man.. THE FRUIT WAS HUGE! I think I now understand the term FRUIT BOMB.

Nonetheless, as in any education, I'm sure there are many variations of this and I'm sure that I'll try this again.....maybe just not this week again....

Join the Tobin James wine club. They will keep you in good Zins for the rest of your life.

Also just to add Engineer, the Rosenblum's vinters cuvee is always NV and the XXV is not a good representation of good zin, imho. Try the Rancho Zabaco Heritage Vines, Rosenblum Oakley, Rabbit Ridge Westside, Karley and others I can't recall right now all of which are around $15 for a better rep. of zin.

Drew's right. That stuff is not Zinfandel--it's alcoholic sweetened fruit juice.

Thanks for the header. I'll look up Drew's list next time I get to a wine store.

I've been to the Tobin James website and it looks really neat. I've read everyone's post on it too.

I'll hook up with them soon as I get back from my business trip (let see, last week, Washington DC, and NYNY, this week Indianapolis, next week Vancouver and Prince George, the week following.......

Engineer,

Had I known you were in NYCity last week we might have had a glass of wine together. I was there presenting a wine program to a Pharmaceutical group.
