- Cotes_du-what - 02-14-2006 Sausal has done it again with their 128-year-old vines. They have crafted a wine full of jammy fruit, balanced with soft tannins. It starts with a bright nose full of blackberry and raspberry aromas, highlighted, though not dominated, by hints of vanilla and oak. The fruit dominates the start of the wine, but it ends soft and drinks incredibly smooth. Highly recommended. - Glass_A_Day - 02-14-2006 Sounds good. Will keep an eye out. - Kcwhippet - 02-14-2006 Highly recommended - - - - by whom? With absolutely no data in the profile and with what appears to be a very well crafted marketing message, I have to assume this comes from someone with close ties to the winery. All that said, I've been to Sausal a few times and really do like the wines. - brappy - 02-15-2006 I'd love to hear a response here. - winoweenie - 02-15-2006 Hi CDW and welcome to the board. We've been a fan of Sausal for years. I too am curious about this post. If you're fronting for the winery we have a thread for that too. WW - Glass_A_Day - 02-15-2006 I didn't even look at the post count and I guess it is not the usual first post being a TN and all. Have I been duped or do we just have a confident newbie? - Thomas - 02-15-2006 In ancient days I used to sell this producer's wines--when I worked for a distributor. They were good then, but haven't had them in years. I did notice, however, that they were leaning toward the big, chewy style. - Kcwhippet - 02-15-2006 Actually, many posters here don't fill out the profile, including more than a few long time posters - hint, hint. - Thomas - 02-15-2006 KC, I thought you meant me--but you did not. I checked. - Kcwhippet - 02-15-2006 No, not you, Foodie, but they know who they are. - Cotes_du-what - 02-15-2006 Nope not a front for the winery, just a huge fan. I think it is a great wine from a great winery. Sorry I gave off the impression that it was a marketing message, I was just trying to describe a wine I really love. - Glass_A_Day - 02-15-2006 No worries Cotes and welcome to the board!! - wondersofwine - 02-15-2006 I took your note at face value. Glad to hear you are a fan--not a promoter. I sometimes (rarely) add recommended to the end of my notes if I think others might appreciate the wine. (Most recently on the 2000 LJ Shiraz from Jones Vineyard in Australia.) - Thomas - 02-15-2006 ...and I rarely post notes because I am in the biz and I do not want others to suspect I might be shilling. |
