As is probably evident by the wines on which I typically post, I'm not much of a "name chaser" with wines. However, we were out to dinner last night, Anne was having ribs, and this was reasonably priced on the wine list. So, we took a flier on it. Deep ruby in color, with a nose of crushed red fruit and some roasted, herb-y meats. Supple and fleshy in the mouth, with flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and a kirsch-like note on the finish. Overall, pretty yummy stuff. We paid $80 on the restaurant wine list (we ate at South City Kitchen here in Atlanta), though it retails for about $60. Pricey for a Cali Zin, even with those prices having climbed like they have in the past few years. Not worth the $, even if it was tasty.
