- tw - 03-25-2005 I am still new to the whole wine scene so my wine vocab is very slim. Just wanted to say that this was a very good merlot for the price at about $10-$12. Decanted for about 20 minutes prior to serving and had with it a nice hand tossed pizza from the local pizza joint. - Innkeeper - 03-25-2005 Good choice. - Kcwhippet - 03-25-2005 Just based on my experience, I think you may like a Bogle Merlot at about the same price. I just like it a whole lot better than Blackstone. - winoweenie - 03-25-2005 I 2nd thae Bogle KC. WW - tw - 03-25-2005 I have a bottle of that in my wine fridge I'll have to crack it open and let ya know what i think. Chris - californiagirl - 03-26-2005 I'll 3rd the Bogle- better consistency than the Blackstone. I find the Blackstone tastes like it's been watered down. - winoweenie - 03-26-2005 Probably sent from the shyster operaton in Mass that adds aqua to ebberthin'. Any how while heading that way for easter I brought 3 bottles of the Boggle and forced her to serve them along with her trusty Blackstone, General Consensus of a group of 10-12 at least 80% preferred the Boggle. Interesting tidbit. Blackstone is a good value however, I feel that, the Boggle and the Sebastiani both in the 10-13 range are of a little higher quality. - wondersofwine - 04-04-2005 At one tasting I liked the Napa Blackstone Merlot much better than the "California" one. These notes probably refer to the California Merlot. - GreggJ - 04-04-2005 WoW, Correct, I was referring to the Blackstone Cal. Never had the pleasure of the Napa. - TheEngineer - 04-05-2005 Thanks for the headsup. I just picked up a few bottles of Bogle at a new place across from my work. $10.99 per bottle and I'll post when I open. Unfortunately travelling much over next two weeks....fortunately getting back to Vancouver and Toronto so that I can pick up so stuff....
