What a dinner! Went to Slocum House in Fair Oaks for our 4th Anniversary. TB is not much of a wine drinker, likes low tannic reds only and ports.

I had Australian Lamb Noisettes marinated in rosemary, garlic and mint wrapped in panchetta with pesto with bleu cheese mashed potatoes. TB had New York steak with sour cream mash. Appetizer was crab cakes with creme fraiche and garlic, pesto mayo. Soup was potato and leek pureed with fennel. Everything cooked perfectly and absolutely mouth-watering.

Very good nose on the wine. Red rasberry with a subtle hint of eucalyptus. Very smooth with subtle tannins. Didn't catch the alc %. Here's the site: http://www.slocum-house.com/html/home.htm

Not a bad wine selection. Waiter told us that they changed the menu tonite... on line version a little different. I wasn't overly thrilled with the by the glass wine selections. Or the 1/2 bottles either.

Was going to mention it when DAnna reported going there yesterday, and WOW commented on their Cab. However didn't want to tarnish my rep on Merlot.
