Committed infanticide but was interested in the future of this bottling. Almost opaque. After 30 minutes the nose reluctutly show brite red fruits with a vanilla tinge, sweet spices and a hint of cassis. Needs at least another 4-6 to come together. The long finish was shut down by considerable tannins. 88-90/ 87. 60 by the box. 14.5% alc. WW

How was the oak? When we tasted theere in July, we felt the wines were overextracted and overoaked.

I had this a few months ago. It was the last wine that we tasted, so it had a couple hours to air. The group thought it was very young and in need of bottle age, but overall a very rich and delicious Merlot.
I think that Foley tends to release his regular Cab and Merlot cuvees a little early.

I wasn't very fond of this bottling or unfortunately much from Pride. All of the bottles they were showing for tastes were strongly overoaked, or clearly just babies that shouldn't have been opened for the public.
KC- as memory serves me, our winery rep did not disclose the amount of time the bottles were opened before our tastes, correct?

Oos most of the wineries release their wines far too early because of the cash flow problems they face. You just need to believe. WW

cg - Didn't bother asking when the wines were opened. I just didn't care for them. I certainly agree that they were way too young. Perhaps a few years down the road they may have shown better, but I wasn't about to put down my bucks on maybes.

I've been impressed with Bob Foley's own brand of Claret at a tasting but found it beyond my budget.

Revisited this hummer again yesterday for lunch. Has started the long road to drinkability. Nose seemed to have expamnded to include some nice floral notes. Still shuts down quickly. No change in scoring. WW

Opened another for lunch yesterday and for some reason it just dint' spin any wheels. Don't think I was funky but sure felt the wine was. Hope this is in a closed cycle but couldn't tell because of the indifference the wine created. Maybe the ole, over-used taste-buds are finally shutting down. A Chilean version would have sufficed. Just desserts for not listening to me. WW
