I had a glass of this at Nana's Restaurant in Durham, NC with an appetizer of baby asparagus with morels, truffle oil and shavings of Parmesan cheese. The wine is a pale color. Very crisp, almost flint nose and tastes of minerals and grapefruit. Nice!Liquid over rocks! Glad I didn't let the waiter talk me into the Gruner Veltliner instead.
(Next wine in Pinot Noir thread.)

I looked up Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc on the Internet and a Seattle website had the 2003 Southern Right Western Cape Sauvignon Blanc as wine pick of the week.
This is from http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/food/183788_winepick28.html

A good example of this style is the wines from Southern Right, one of the new guard producers getting some well-deserved attention.

Southern Right is situated in the cool climate hills overlooking the breathtakingly beautiful Walker Bay south of Cape Town. The winery is named for the southern right whales, which enter the bay each year. This tiny winery specializes in two wines, the red pinotage (a unique hybrid developed in South Africa) and sauvignon blanc.

The Southern Right 2003 Sauvignon Blanc ($11) behaves neither like the occasionally high-voltage versions from New Zealand nor the rich and weighty California model. Instead we get a delightfully elegant and restrained wine with long flavors of citrus and pear, a bit of mineral and a slightly herbal lemon-butter finish. The winery donates a portion of all sales to a southern right whale conservation fund. To find the wine call A and B imports at 206-332-1995.
